RPI Announces Record Year of Giving for Lacrosse Programs

TROY, N.Y. — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) announced today a record-setting year of philanthropic support for its lacrosse programs, as alumni, families, and friends united behind ambitious priorities that elevate the student-athlete experience and strengthen competitive excellence across both Women's and Men's Lacrosse. Fueled by an unprecedented anonymous multi-year gift of $500,000, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's lacrosse programs took another step toward national prominence in 2025.

RPI Women's Lacrosse received more support than at any time in its history. These investments have already enhanced training resources and upgraded team apparel, with the central objective of completing a full, competitive game schedule that keeps RPI on par with peer programs across the league.

"Last year's outpouring of support has made an incredible difference for our women's lacrosse student-athletes," said RPI Women's Head Coach Leslie DeLano '06G. "We are deeply grateful for the loyalty and generosity of our supporters. Their belief in our mission inspires our athletes every day."

RPI Men's Lacrosse likewise experienced an extraordinary surge in generosity, highlighted by the largest pledged gift in program history. This transformative support is already closing the gap with the program's top five peers and is expressly intended to inspire additional giving from the broader community. A signature outcome of this philanthropy is a planned trip to the 2026 Music City Classic in Nashville, where the Engineers will compete in two games across two days, mirroring the cadence of NCAA Tournament play and providing a marquee regular-season experience for the team.

Beyond marquee competition opportunities, these gifts are elevating daily excellence for Men's Lacrosse, supporting enhanced leadership and mindset training, improved nutrition and recovery through enhanced travel meals and post-training refueling, upgraded apparel, and annual game-day equipment enhancements.

Building on that momentum, a lead commitment from Matthew Moog '03 has launched a new RPI Lacrosse Endowment designed to support both women's and men's programs in perpetuity, laying the foundation for sustained growth, long-term stability, and a legacy of opportunity for future Engineers. To help steward this progress, a Women's Lacrosse Leadership Council has been established to collaborate closely with the existing Men's Lacrosse Council to guide strategic planning and connect prospective and current student-athletes with a powerful alumni network.

"We are tremendously grateful for Matt Moog's leadership and gift to establish the Lacrosse Endowment," said RPI Men's Head Coach Scott Hackett-Dalgliesh. "There is a long, unique and special legacy of lacrosse at RPI from the Olympics to our National Championship to numerous NCAA Tournament appearances. Matt's lead gift will not only enhance our student-athletes' experience but will also ensure that the legacy of RPI Lacrosse continues into the future. We hope others will join in support of these lacrosse endowment gifts to further enhance and grow the legacy of RPI lacrosse."

"The RPI lacrosse community has shown tremendous support for our programs. We are profoundly grateful to both donors and their families, whose generosity helps build the momentum needed to strengthen our teams today and for years to come," said Dr. Kristie Bowers, Director of Athletics.
