ROCHESTER, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's track & field team had participants in five different events at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships this weekend at Nazareth College. The Engineers had entries in the 5,000-meter run, pole vault, and long jump, as well as 4x400-meter and Distance Medley relays squads.
James Zeolla and
Moss Dengler highlighted the championship for RPI, as the pair finished fourth and seventh, respectively, in the pole vault. Zeolla cleared the bar at 5.05 meters while Dengler earned a mark of 5.00 meters.
Vincent Simonetti (5,000m) and
Owen Haas (long jump) each finished in 13th place in their corresponding events. Simonetti finished with a time of 14:30.25 and Haas registered a best distance of 6.99 meters.
Danny Gall,
Alexander Flynn,
Dominic Pena, and
Jack Czarnecki completed the distance medley relay in 9:56.53, which earned the quartet a seventh place result.
Flynn joined
Donovan Myrick,
Peter Cavanaugh and
Josh Ihegihu to place 11th in the 4x400 relay as well.
The Engineers finish the two-day event listing 24th out of 65 point-scoring teams.
