Men’s Tennis Sweeps Liberty League Rival RIT

LATHAM, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team defeated RIT 7-0 indoors at TriCity tonight.

The Engineers, who sit #8 in the most recent ITA national rankings, won every set in across the singles and doubles play to earn the clean sweep over their Liberty League rivals.

Aiden Drover-Mattinen won 6-0, 7-5 on the top singles line, while Andy Zhu claimed a 6-1, 6-2 victory as the #2.

Archit Yemula (6-2, 6-0), Tsubasa Okada (6-1, 6-0), Tasmay Shah (6-4, 6-3), and Nico Luis (6-1, 6-1) also cruised to wins in their respective singles tilts.

The Engineers had no trouble in the doubles matches, as Drover-Mattinen / Zhu (6-1), Joel McCandless / Okada (6-3), and Yemula / Shah (7-6) took care of things as the three doubles pairings.

RPI will continue its weekend with a 2:00 pm home meeting against Hobart.
