BALLSTON SPA, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) golf team finished second overall out of 20 teams at the Tim Brown Invitational this past weekend in Saratoga. The Engineers were only one of two teams to score under-par, as RPI shot -1 to over the two-day event.
Co-captains
Jacob Lindsay,
Matt Buckley, and
Owen Himmer all registered top-15 finishes for the Engineers. Lindsay posted back-to-back days under par, as he placed runner-up out of 108 participants with a final score of -6, which ties an RPI program record.
Buckley pocketed three birdies in the final round to finish in ninth with a -1. Himmer claimed 13th after shooting +1.
Lindsay and Himmer played key roles in a record-setting first round team score of -2. Lindsay logged a career-best score of 67 and tied for the top spot after the opening day.
Himmer was close behind, tied for third on the first afternoon. Himmer's round of 68 also represented a career best.

Matt Buckley began the event with +2 in the first round, however the graduate student bounce back to secure his spot in the top ten.
Ryan Komp and
Rodrigo Muelas shot +8 and +11 throughout the two days, respectively, to round of the scoring for RPI. Two Engineers competed an non-scoring individuals in the event, with
Anthony Chen going +6 and Nicholas Ventura carding a +18 for the two days.
The Engineers are set to return to action in their final tournament of the regular season, which will take place at the Bethpage Red Course in Farmingdale, NY on Saturday and Sunday.
