INDIANAPOLIS, IN –
Aiden Drover-Mattinen and
Andy Zhu of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's tennis team have been selected as participants in the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships, which will take place later this month in California.
This is the fourth consecutive singles championship appearance for Drover-Mattinen, as the two-time All-American has now punched his ticket to the NCAAs in all four years he has competed for the Engineers. Drover-Mattinen holds a 27-1 singles record this year and is ranked #8 amongst singles players in the most recent ITA DIII national rankings. He has won at least one match in all three of his previous NCAA trips, including quarterfinals appearances in both 2023 and 2024.
2025 marks the second straight season in which Drover-Mattinen and Zhu were selected as one of 16 teams in the doubles championship field. The pair registered the best doubles finish in program history last spring, coming within one game of the title match before falling to the eventual national champions in the semifinals.
Drover-Mattinen and Zhu played a key role in helping RPI reach the NCAA team championship for the fifth time in the past seven seasons. Opening rounds of the team tournament begin this weekend, with the Engineers facing Amherst or Oswego in their first matchup on Saturday afternoon at regional host Tufts. The individual championships will be May 23-26, at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center, Claremont, California.
