TROY, N.Y. — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball program was prominently represented when the Liberty League announced its postseason awards today, as the Engineers produced seven All-Liberty League selections spanning the First, Second, and Third Teams.
Michael Lebenson highlighted the group with First Team honors, while Garrett Gates,
Ben Belliss (two-way selection), and
Walker Abdallah earned Second Team recognition and
Charlie Morse and
Zac Zajac rounded out the accolades on the Third Team.
Lebenson, RPI's standout third baseman, delivered one of the league's most prolific offensive seasons en route to First Team honors. He led the Liberty League in both home runs (9) and doubles (19) while ranking third in the conference with 41 RBI. Lebenson also finished among the league's top overall producers with a .347 batting average (18th), 1.121 OPS (6th), 40 runs scored (8th), and 51 hits (10th), pairing middle-of-the-order power with consistent contact. On the bases, he added another dynamic layer, ranking eighth in the Liberty League with 18 steals, making him a constant threat from first pitch to final out.
On the mound, RPI placed two arms on the Second Team, led by Garrett Gates, who ranked seventh in the Liberty League with five wins while posting a 4.12 ERA, 10th among qualifying pitchers, and 39 strikeouts (13th). Joining him was
Ben Belliss, recognized for his effectiveness as a starting pitcher after compiling three wins, a 3.45 ERA, and 33 strikeouts, while holding opponents to a .214 batting average. Belliss also earned a Second Team utility spot for his impact in the lineup, ranking tied for seventh in the league with five home runs and 11th with 34 RBI.
In the outfield,
Walker Abdallah garnered Second Team honors after combining on-base ability with elite speed. He finished tied for third in the Liberty League with 20 stolen bases, while ranking fifth in hits (54) and fifth in runs scored (47), and posting a .365 batting average (14th).
RPI's Third Team selections featured
Charlie Morse earned Third Team honors in the outfield, also finishing tied for third in the Liberty League with 20 steals, while
Zac Zajac was recognized as a relief pitcher after finishing tied for first in the conference with seven saves.
