TROY, N.Y. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has announced its 2026 Team Academic Excellence Award honorees and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) has been selected and is one of the 197 Division III programs on the list.
17 of the 34 Engineers boasted a GPA over 3.5 this semester, while two reached the 4.0 mark. On the field, RPI claimed the Liberty League East Division regular season title for the second time in the last three seasons.
Teams from every level of college baseball were honored with the award, which recognizes teams coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA over 3.0 for the 2016-17 academic year. In total, more than 500 collegiate programs were recognized with the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award this season.
The American Baseball Coaches Association has a long tradition of recognizing the achievements of baseball coaches and student-athletes. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Teams are the nation's oldest, founded in 1949, and the ABCA's awards program also includes the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Awards, the ABCA/Diamond Regional & National Coaches of the Year and several other major awards such as the ABCA Hall of Fame and the Ethics in Coaching Award.
