TROY, N.Y. – The Hamilton field hockey team built a 3-1 lead midway through the second half and held on for a 3-2 victory over Rensselaer, in the Liberty League finale for both schools. The Continentals improve to 9-3 overall and 6-1 in Liberty League play, while the Engineers conclude their season with a 4-13 record (1-6 Liberty).

With the game tied at 1-1 late in the first half, sophomore Sarah Flisnik (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) took a shot off a rebound and beat Rensselaer sophomore goalie Briana Earle (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) five-hole. The score came after a penalty corner and shot by senior Amy Allen (Bright's Grove, ON/Loomis Chaffee School).

The Continentals extended their lead to 3-1 in the 37th minute, when junior Carly Andrascik (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) scored through traffic off of a penalty corner. Andrascik's tally proved to be the game-winner.

Junior Sandy Turnbull (Upperville, VA/Chatham Hall) helped the Engineers pull to within 3-2 in the 59th minute, scoring her team-leading 12th of the season off of a cross from senior Kerri Clark (Saratoga Springs, NY/Saratoga Springs).

Clark opened the scoring in the fifth minute when she redirected a rebound off a shot by classmate Shaina Feldman (Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville Area). Hamilton senior netminder Courtney DeMaria (Littleton, MA/Groton School) kicked away the initial shot, but Clark was there to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.

Hamilton junior Colleen Callaghan (Queensbury, NY/Glens Falls) evened the score at one apiece in the 26th minute. Off of a penalty corner, sophomore Erin McNally (Scotia, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Spa) sent a pass to the right side of the net for Callaghan who buried a shot from close range.

DeMaria (9-3) earned the win in net for Hamilton, making seven saves, while Earle (1-9) finished with six stops. The Continentals held a 23-16 edge in shots, and an 8-5 advantage in penalty corners.
