ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The 10th-ranked Rensselaer baseball team swept 17th-ranked Rochester, 5-4 and 9-8, winning both games in its final at-bat. Andrew Krushelnyski and Scott Robinson each delivered game-winner two-run singles as the Red Hawks improve to 21-5 overall (14-1 Liberty League). The Yellowjackets fall to 19-8 (11-5 Liberty).

Game one saw the Red Hawks rally from a 4-2 deficit in their last at-bat. Senior Sean Wilkes was hit by a pitch, before junior Patrick Reardon singled up the middle with Wilkes moving to second. Sophomore Nic Marchese dropped a bloop single down the left field line to load the bases.

Junior Camden Mamagonian beat out an infield single to short, scoring Wilkes and pulling the Red Hawks within 4-3. Krushelnyski then grounded the ball up the middle, plating Reardon with the tying run and Marchese for the game-winner.

Rochester took a 2-0 lead in the second. Dan Brien doubled, was sacrificed to third, and scored on Jay Jay Vanderstyne's triple to right. Vanderstyne scored on a groundout by Nate Stein.

RPI got a run back in the second. Mamgonian walked, moved to second on a single, and third on a sacrifice, before scoring on a Jim Devine infield single.

Andy Cannon scored on a wild pitch in the third for a 3-1 Rochester lead, but RPI scored an unearned run in bottom of the inning.

Rochester added a run in the seventh on a Blayne Fuke triple followed by a Matt Francis double.

Andy Opperman earned the complete game victory for RPI. In seven innings, he yielded seven hits, walked one, and struck out four.

In game two, Rochester scored three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to build a 6-2 lead. Ryan Barnard tripled home Nate Stein and Andy Cannon, then scored on Jay Jay Vanderstyne's single in the fifth. In the sixth inning, Stein doubled with one out and moved to third on Alex Caghan's double. Brian Bezek singled to right, scoring two. He then came home on a single by Barnard.

RPI got three back in the seventh, cutting the lead to 6-5. Robinson singled and moved to second on a bounce out. Wilkes walked and Reardon tripled to score two. Nic Marchese then drove home Reardon with a base hit.

Rochester's three-run rally in the sixth chased RPI starter John Dreimiller. He was replaced with two outs in the sixth by Ryan Washburn who finished the game and picked up the win. In 3.1 innings, Washburn allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out four. He retired seven straight before Rochester scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth, building the lead to 8-5.

With one away in the bottom of the seventh, Reardon singled to left before three straight walks force home the sixth RPI run and left the bases loaded. Devine hit a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Marchese and cutting the lead to 8-7. Freshman Art Levenson drew a full-count walk, loading the bases in front of Robinson's game-winning single.

The Red Hawks are back in action this Tuesday and Wednesday, when they play a non-league home-and-home series with Montclair State. RPI travels to Montclair on Tuesday (3:30pm), before hosting the Red Hawks on Wednesday (4pm) at Robison Field.
