WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Sophomore Tanner Boucher and junior Art Levenson each drove in a pair of runs, but the Rensselaer baseball team fell to Wheaton College (Mass.), 13-6. With the win, the Lyons improve to 4-1, while the Engineers drop to 5-4.

Each team plated at least one run in the first three innings, with Wheaton taking a 6-3 edge after three. Lyons' junior Dan Hough (Andover, MA/Saint John's Prep) highlighted a three-run first with a run scoring double to right center. RPI junior Cody Vincent (Catskill, NY/John A. Coleman) delivered an RBI-single up the middle in the second inning, before Levenson (San Diego, CA/University City) plated a run on a base-hit in the third.

Wheaton added three runs in the sixth on a three-run homer by Hough, and added three more in the seventh, as Hough drove in two more with a single.

Rensselaer answered the Lyons three-run seventh with three runs of its own in the bottom of the frame. Four consecutive doubles from sophomore Jonny Rio (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia), Boucher (Keene, NH/Keene), Levenson and sophomore Chuck Erickson (Mansfield, MA/Mansfield) brought home all three.

The Lyons tacked on one run in the eighth to cap the scoring.

Rio finished 2 for 3 with two runs scored, while Boucher finished 1 for 5 with a run and two RBI. Levenson went 2 for 4 with a run and two RBI.

On the hill, freshman Tim Gallagher (Snohomish, WA/Snohomish) worked a scoreless 1.2 innings of relief for RPI, allowing just two walks. Wheaton freshman starter Nick Filloramo (Rochester, NY/Old Rochester Regional) earned the win, surrendering all six runs (four earned) on nine hits over 6.2 innings. He struck out one and walked two.

The Engineers conclude their Spring Trip schedule tomorrow morning, when they take on SUNY Cortland (9:30am).
