OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Two four-run innings propelled the Old Wesbury baseball to a, 9-3, victory over Rensselaer in non-conference action tonight from the Jackie Robinson Athletic Complex. With the win, the Panthers improve to 23-19 overall, while the Engineers conclude their non-league schedule with 23-14 mark.

RPI broke the scoring ice early with a pair of runs in the first inning off an RBI double by Kyle LaVigne and a sacrifice fly by Art Levenson that scored LaVigne. Old Westbury answered with a four-run first inning to take the lead for good. Back-to-back two out singles and a walk loaded the bases for a three-run single by Benjamin Farias to put OW on top, 3-2. Farias then stole third and scored on a throwing error by RPI catcher Kyle Kopacz.

Old Westbury added to its lead in the fifth off a run scoring single by Josef Schaetzle that drove home Joseph Guido. RPI scored its third and final run in the sixth frame when OW starter Chris Sanabria uncorked a wild pitch that allowed Levenson to score from third.

Old Westbury responded in the seventh with four runs on four hits to put the game out of reach. Back-to-Back singles by Guido and Melvin Simmons positioned Anthony Orsano to knock home Guido off a double to left center. Chris DeGennaro worked a bases loaded walk to score Simmons followed by a single off the bat of Farias that drove in Orsano and Schaetzle.

Chris Sanabria improved to 5-4 on the season after pitching 7.2 innings to notch Old Westbury's win. Sanabria fanned one batter while surrendering three runs on seven hits and four walks before Marvin Rosario retired the final four batters to preserve the victory. $Brian Malin# took the loss for RPI, falling to 0-1 on the season after just 4.1 innings of mound work. Malin was tapped for five runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks. RPI used four relievers that worked a combined 3.2 innings, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

Old Westbury registered four Panthers with multi-hits led by Joseph Guido's three hit attack. Benjamin Farias went 2-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored while Guido, Anthony Orsano and Josef Schaetzle scored twice. Chuck Erickson banged out two hits, including a double to lead the RBI offense.
