TROY, N.Y. – The Liberty League has announced its weekly awards in women's basketball and men's indoor track & field and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes Sarah Wetmore and David Kastner were both recognized for their accomplishments. Wetmore was named Performer of the Week in basketball, while Kastner was the league's choice as the Track Performer of the Week.

A senior guard out of Sudbury, Mass., Wetmore averaged 15.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in three games last week as the Engineers went 1-2. She also recorded nine steals and a blocked shot.  Wetmore opened the week with a 10 point, four rebound and game-best six assist performance at Bard – an 82-33 victory for the Engineers.

Wetmore then added a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds in a 72-56 loss at St. Lawrence.  She wrapped up the week with 21 points and eight boards as the Engineers fell at Clarkson, 57-56.

The former Lincoln-Sudbury High School standout ranks second on the squad in scoring, averaging 13.1 points per game.  She is also second in rebounds per contest (6.5) and assists (45).  A two-time Liberty League Performer of the Week, Wetmore has also added 21 steals and six blocks while averaging 28.2 minutes per game.

Kastner, a junior from West Islip, N.Y., garnered his honor after winning the 60-meter hurdles at the non-team scoring Wesleyan Invitational last week.  He posted a time of 8.50 and continues to rank among the top-20 in the nation in his event.

A graduate of West Islip High School, Kastner was second in the 60-m hurdles at last week's season-opener at Dartmouth, recording a time of 8.46.  One of the squad's top hurdlers, Kastner finished third overall in the 55-m hurdles a season ago at both the  Liberty League and NYSCTC Indoor Championships.

The women's basketball team (9-7; 3-4 LL) returns to the court on Tuesday, hosting Vassar at East Campus Arena (6pm).  RPI then hosts William Smith on Friday (6pm), before traveling to Union on Saturday (4pm).  The track & field team is back in action on Saturday at the Bowdoin Invitational in Brunswick, Maine (12:30pm).
