Mike Campisi pitched a complete game shutout and classmate
Sean Conroy allowed just one earned run in eight innings to lead Rensselaer to a Liberty League sweep of Vassar, 3-0 and 14-7. RPI jumps to 11-6 overall and 4-4 in the league, while the Brewers fall to 7-8 and 3-5. The same two teams play another doubleheader on Sunday in Troy. First pitch is scheduled for noon and all the action can be heard live on WRPI, 91.5 FM and

Campisi (Kings Park, NY / Kings Park) gave up nine hits and allowed just one walk to improve to 3-2. After allowing just two hits through four innings, he battled through bases-loaded situations in both the fifth and the sixth inning. Campisi then stranded one runner in the final inning for his third complete game of the year.
The Engineers got the only run they would need in the fourth inning when freshman
Nick Annunziata (Neshanic Station, NJ / St. Joseph) walked, stole second and scored on a double from
Brandon Galluppi (Clifton Park, NY / Shenendehowa). Rensselaer added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings as insurance. Annunziata knocked in Rio with a single to left field for the second run and Rio singled in
Eric Kozak (New York, NY / Dalton School) with two outs in the seventh.
Jonny Rio went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI, while
Andrew Kalish (Clifton Park, NY / Shenendehowa) was also 2 for 4.
Three players had two hits apiece for the Brewers, including catcher A.J. Kim (La Canada, CA / La Canada), who was 2 for 2, and rightfielder Sean Morash (Knoxville, TN / Knoxville Catholic), who was 2 for 3. Sophomore lefthander Johnny Mrlik (San Francisco, CA / St. Ignatius College Prep) suffered the loss. He allowed three earned runs on seven hits with five walks and three strikeouts.
The second game saw Conroy (Clifton Park, NY / Shenendehowa) control the home team's bats, while the Engineers pounded out 14 runs on 12 hits. Also a righthander, Conroy allowed just six hits and one walk with four strikeouts. Of the three runs he gave up, just one was earned.
Five players had multiple hits for RPI, which scored four times in both the fifth and sixth innings and led 14-3 entering the bottom of the ninth inning. Annunziata was 2 for 4 with two runs and three RBI, while
Jared Jensen (Kingston, NY / Kingston), a sophomore outfielder, was 2 for 4 with five RBI.
