AUBURNDALE, Fla. - The seventh-ranked SUNY Cortland baseball team scored in all but two innings en route to a 13-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), this afternoon, in non-league action at the Lake Myrtle Complex. With the win, the Red Dragons improve to 7-2 on the year, while the Engineers drop to 3-1.
After a scoreless first, the Red Dragons scored all the runs they would need on a home run by Vinny Bomasuto (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) in the top of the second. An RBI-single by junior Mitch Hollander (Woodbury, NY/Syosset) made it 3-0 after three complete.Â
A run-scoring triple off the bat of senior first baseman Max Rosing (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) gave Cortland a 3-0 advantage in the fifth, before the Red Dragons tacked on two more in each of the next two frames. After picking up a single run in the eighth, Junior Pat Farina (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) cleared the bases with a grand slam in the ninth, bringing the game to its 13-0 final.
