GAMEDAY: Rensselaer (1-1) plays its second consecutive home game and looks to build off a 3-2 win over No. 20 Mount Holyoke when it hosts Hamilton College (0-0) in a non-league contest on Wednesday night (7pm).

LAST TIME OUT: RPI scored twice in a 1:18 span to gain the lead and the Engineers held off No. 20 Mount Holyoke, 3-2 ... Trailing 2-1 with just over 15 minutes remaining in the second half, Rensselaer tied the game when junior Jane Edgington  collected a loose ball to the right of the cage and swept a shot across the turf and into the back of the cage ... The Engineers needed just over a minute later to take the lead as sophomore Mikaela DiBello drove down the right side before getting the ball to freshman Nessa Costa, who finished the play with her first collegiate goal ... The assist was the second of the game for DiBello ... The Lyons had several chances to tie the game but were stopped with the highlight being a diving save by sophomore goalie Rachel Kaufman off a penalty corner ... She finished with six saves ... Liz DiCesare made seven saves on the other end ... The Engineers held an 18-16 advantage in shots, including 13-6 in the second half, and a 7-6 edge in penalty corners.

HOME DEBUTS: With the win on Saturday, the Engineers are now 7-4 in their first game on Harkness Field, including three wins in the last four years ... They defeated Hartwick in 2015 and 2013 and lost to Mount Holyoke in 2014.

GAME 1: Rensselaer amassed 25 shots with 18 on goal, but the Engineers fell at Hartwick, 2-1 ... The Hawks got 16 saves from Shannon Carter and a defensive save from Maggie Stauble to thwart RPI's attack ... Sophomore Taylor Clink scored RPI's lone goal, tying the game at 1-1 in the first half ... Classmate Mikaela DiBello had seven shots, four of which were on goal ... Hartwick took the lead with 14:10 to go in the first stanza when Maxine Dunn rattled off a shot that found its way across the goal line ... Clink tied the game at 22:39 off of a Megan Jones' penalty corner ...  Clink sailed a shot in from the top of the circle into the cage ... Following a defensive save, Allyson Quirk collected a pass from Sarah Ryan and scored while cutting  down the middle ... Sophomore Kayla Bell made three first half stops with none in the second for the Engineers.

COSTA HONORED: Freshman Nessa Costa has been named the Rookie of the Week by the Liberty League following her performance against the Lyons of Mount Holyoke last week ... She scored the game-winning goal and had three shots, all on goal, in a 3-2 win over the No. 20 team in Division III.

SEASON OPENERS: The loss on Thursday dropped the Engineers record in the first game of the year over the last decade to 3-7 ... Two of those games have been against Hartwick, three have been against Montclair State and two have come against Keene State.

TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Continentals are playing their first game of the season ... They are led on the field by senior Eva Rosencrans, who was first in goals (12) and points (29) a season ago ... Head coach Gillian McDonald, a 2004 Bowdoin graduate, is in her 11th season.

LAST SEASON VS. HAMILTON: RPI saw its season-opening three-game winning streak ended at Hamilton in 2015, 2-1 ... The Continentals jumped out to 2-0 lead with one goal in the first half (Casey Brown) and another early in the second (Margaret Revera) before Rensselaer's Mikaela DiBello scored her first collegiate marker to cut RPI's deficit in half ... DiBello's original shot was stopped but she collected the rebound and scored from the right side ... The Engineers applied pressure throughout but could not knot the score ... Rachel Kaufman made six saves in defeat, while Hamilton's Julia Booth stopped four saves ... The Continentals held an 18-12 shot advantage while Rensselaer held a 7-5 edge in corners.

2016 CAPTAINS: Senior midfielders Claire Cecilio, Colleen Fowler and Colleen Morris are Rensselaer's captains ... Cecilio played 17 games - all as a starter - in each of her first three years, tallying three goals and two assists ... Fowler had three goals and two assists for eight points - all career-highs - last season and now has six goals and two assists for 14 points ... In 12 games in 2015, Morris had a goal on seven shots (5 on goal) following earning an assist with four shots in 17 games as a sophomore.
