TROY, N.Y. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted its first Student-Athlete Networking Fair on Thursday, September 21, providing the opportunity for companies to visit campus and to share potential opportunities and information while getting to know Rensselaer's student-athletes.
BAE Systems, Deloitte, eBay, Ernst & Young, ExxonMobil, Regeneron, S&P Global, Stryker, and TRANE spent time with more than 250 student-athletes, who networked, shared resumes, and gained insight into full-time openings or internships. There was also the chance to learn interviewing tips and practice '60 second sells' in advance of the annual NSBE/SHPE Career Fair, which takes place on September 22-23 on campus. Many of the representatives from the businesses were former Rensselaer student-athletes themselves.
This inaugural event was especially helpful to RPI's fall student-athletes, many of whom are unable to attend the weekend career fair due to games. Members of SAAC expect the Student-Athlete Networking Fair to become an annual event with additional companies participating in future years.
