Engineers host Clarkson in critical Liberty League series

DOWN THE STRETCH
RPI will open the final third of its Liberty League schedule this weekend with a four-game series against Clarkson, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday (1pm) at Robison Field ... The Engineers and Golden Knights then square off in a second twin bill on Sunday (12pm) ... RPI closes out the year with a home-and-home series with area-rival Union College next weekend.

ENGINEERS WIN AT WILLIAMS
Rensselaer took a back-and-forth contest, 16-7, at Williams on Tuesday in non-league action ... Senior shortstop continued to swing a hot bat, going 3 for 5 with a home run, two runs scored and five runs batted in ... The Engineers turned a 9-7 8th inning deficit into a lead with a seven-run frame ... Meister's three-run shot in the ninth capped the scoring for the day.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
Clarkson is 3-3 in its last six games, including a doubleheader split with RIT on Tuesday ... The Golden Knights also split a four-game series at Skidmore over the weekend.

PLAYOFF PICTURE
RPI is currently the fifth seed in the Liberty League Tournament with eight games to play ... Rochester and Union have the inside track to host at 11-3 and 12-4, respectively, with Vassar (8-6, h&h w/Union and Bard), RIT (8-7, at SLU and h&h w/Rochester), RPI (8-7, vs. Clarkson and h&h w/Union) and Clarkson (6-8, at RPI and h&h w/St. Lawrence) vying for the final two spots.

The Engineers are 34-19 against the Golden Knights since 2004, including 21-10 at home.
