The Engineers break up a pair of Liberty League weekends with a non-league contest against Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Wednesday (4pm).

RPI OPENS WITH SERIES WIN
Rensselaer took three of four games from Skidmore to open its Liberty League schedule last weekend, splitting a doubleheader on Sunday, before taking two games for the Thoroughbreds on Monday ... Jack Vaccari hit the game-tying grand slam in the nightcap, helping the Engineers to a 10-5 victory.

VS. MCLA
The Engineers are 7-2 against MCLA since 2004, including a 5-0 mark at Robison Field ... RPI has won the last three meetings, including an 11-5 victory last year in Troy ... The Trailblazers last won a game in the series on April 21, 2010 – a 7-4 triumph in North Adams, Mass.

2018 VS. THE TRAILBLAZERS
RPI broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fifth, scoring three times, including two runs on a single by Michael Arboleda ... The Engineers went on to score three in the sixth, two in the seventh and three in the eight for the 11-5 victory ... Austin Lawrence finished 2 for 3 with a double and three RBI, while Chris Grome earned his first collegiate win on the hill, working 3.0 relief innings with one run allowed.

SCOUTING MCLA
The Trailblazer are hitting .227 as a team with a 6.88 staff era ... The have lost four of five games, including being swept by Keuka College, 12-11 and 10-5, in Auburndale, Fla., last Friday.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Freshman Cole Paquin earned Liberty League Rookie of the Week, after hitting .538 (7 for 13), with a home run - the first of his career - with six runs and four RBI. He compiled a .647 on-base percentage and an .846 slugging percentage.
