Senior Celebration Series: Eric Zeppa

At Rensselaer, we are proud to recognize the student-athletes who are members of the Class of 2020. We thank them for their hard work, dedication and tremendous efforts in representing the Institute in a first-class manner academically and athletically. We wish them well as they continue to complete the semester and become Rensselaer alumni / alumnae.

While at Rensselaer:
Three-year performer after transferring from NYIT ... Played 32 games, 18 as starter ... Civil Engineering major ... Dean's Honor List ... SAAC ... Events Coordinator in 2019-20.

Favorite sports memory during career?
"My favorite RPI Athletics memory was when we beat Clarkson 3 out of 4 games on the road last season while they were the first place team. It was the best baseball we had played through my years on the team and we got contributions from so many different players, top to bottom." - March 2020

What makes Rensselaer so special?
"The hard working, dedicated atmosphere is what sticks out to me. There are so many student-athletes truly devoted to both their school work and athletics equally and it's a pleasure to watch all of these great people along side of you go to work everyday and try to better themselves." - March 2020

What are your post-graduation plans?
"I will be participating in the RPI MBA Program after interning as a project engineer with Consigli Construction in Albany this summer." - March 2020

From the coaching staff:
"Eric overcame a lot of adversity in his career at RPI. I have admired his commitment to our team and program in his years here. He has taken on his changing roll year after year and was able to lead our catchers and team with his maturity and experience." - March 2020

What others say:
"A great teammate. He used his experience as a baseball player to help give advice on what it takes to play college baseball and how hard you had to work to get there. He just always did the right thing, especially when it came to being a teammate and showing me that doing the little things matter." - March 2020

"A man with true passion and love for the game." - April 2020

"Eric's love for the game of baseball was often shown, whether in the form of being the first one to catch a bullpen or knowing everything that happened that day in the MLB. His motivation to play was driven by a love and respect for the game, which is at a level much higher than the average ballplayer." - April 2020

"Big team player willing to play whatever role is best for the team as a whole. Leader on and off the field." - April 2020
