Matt Lecky led all Division III runners in the mile, freshman
Vincent Simonetti ran a 14:42.45 in the 5000 meters and junior
Luke Lyons registered a 49.63 in the 400 meters at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational. The multi-divisional meet is non-team scoring.
Lecky legged out a 4:05.97 in the mile to finish 51st of 285 runners in the event. He was one of 10 Division III runners to cross the finish line in under 4:10.00 and nearly a full second in front of the next best competitor from the division (4:06.59). RPI had six others run the mile with
Davis Piercy running a 4:16.64 and
Dylan Rosemark registering a 4:18.67. The others were at least two seconds behind Rosemark.
Simonetti was one of eight from the Engineers in the 5000 meter unseeded event, which featured 74 runners. He was sixth overall with a time of 14:42.45, followed by
Cory Kennedy in 14th (14:46.23),
Patrick Smyth in 22nd (14:53.27) and
Grey Conover in 26th (14:55.22).
In addition to Lyons competing in the 400 meters, freshman
Sean Shannon lined up for the 800 meters and
John Reed ran the 5000 seeded.
