MEDFORD, Mass. - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) track & field teams had a select number of individuals compete at the Tufts University National Qualifying Meet and the Engineers came away with three top three finishes, including a record-setting performance. The meet was non team scoring.

The men's distance medley relay team of 1) Davis Piercy, 2) Luke Lyons, 3) Sean Shannon and 4) Matthew Lecky not only won the event, but did so in a school record time of 9:55.09. The foursome defeated six other squads with what turned out to be the fourth fastest time in Division III this season.

Morgan Lee, a junior distance runner, was second in the women's 3000 meters with a time of 9:51.89, just .23 from the winner, Diana Vizza of Johns Hopkins. In the men's 5000 meters, Cory Kennedy was third of 12 with a time of 14:37.60. 

The next indoor action for Rensselaer's student-athletes is the NCAA Championship for those who qualify. That announcement will be made early next week.
