Mary Lou graduated as the all-time scoring leader for women’s basketball at RPI with 1,175 points in 84 games (14.0 ppg). In fact, she led all basketball players (men & women) in career points until 1989 when Rob Helmer concluded his career with 1,229 points. The team's leading scorer for three years, she scored 296 points as a freshman, 288 as a sophomore, 262 as a junior and 329 as a senior.

A guard, Mary Lou was also first on the career steals list with 185 and second in assists in a season (124) and career (375).  She was second in single-season steals (58) and sixth for points in a season, after scoring 329 in her final year.

The Bernhards Bay native, New York, native had 12 games in her four years in which she scored 20 or more points, including a career-high 28 points against Saint Rose in January of 1983.  Mary Lou, a captain as a senior, was named to the Capital District All-Tournament Team in 1984-85 and 1985-86.
