Those records include the 100-freestyle, 200-freestyle, 500-freestyle, 1000-freestyle, 1650-freestyle, 100-breaststroke, 200-breaststroke, 200-individual medley and 400-individual medley. She held the record for the 100-butterfly until the 1994-95 season. In addition, she was a part of the school record-holding 400-medley relay team.

Murray was Rensselaer’s first female All-American swimmer, as she was selected an NCAA Division III All-America in the 200-breaststroke as a senior.

She was also Rensselaer's Freshman Athlete of the Year in 1986-87, and Academic All-America and inducted into Olympia.

A native of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, who attended Chapel Hill High School, she earned both a bachelor's and master's in mechanical engineering.
