ALBANY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's ice hockey team recently participated in the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The event, which took place in Albany's Washington Park, featured more than 13,000 walkers and raised an astounding 1,050,000 dollars.
The Engineers, consisting of 24 walkers, both players and coaches, raised a grand total of $2,150.00 for the cause. Which was over $1,150 more than their goal. For last season's walk, the women's hockey team raised a total of $2,515.00 toward the fight against Breast Cancer.
The Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk is a non-competitive walk to help fight breast cancer and provide hope to people facing the disease. Participation in the event supports the American Cancer Society's lifesaving research, prevention, early detection, and support programs for thousands of patients and their families.
