Engineers close out fall schedule with two ECAC Hockey games

CLOSING OUT 2015: Rensselaer concludes the 2015 portion of its schedule this weekend, when it hosts Yale and Brown for a pair of ECAC Hockey contests ... Puck drop for both contests will be 3pm.

GRUSCHOW NOT ENOUGH FOR RPI: Senior Alexa Gruschow scored all four of RPI's goals last weekend in a non-league series with New Hampshire ... She helped the Engineers come back from a 3-1 deficit to earn a 3-3 tie on Friday, before falling 2-1 to the Wildcats on Saturday ... Gruschow had the lone Rensselaer tally in that game as well ... Freshman netminder Lovisa Selander made 30 saves on Friday night and 27 on Saturday.

RPI SCORING LEADERS: The Engineers are led offensively by senior Alexa Gruschow, who has eight goals and three assists for 11 points ... Classmate Mari Mankey (3 goals, 7 assists) has 10 points, while junior Laura Horwood (2 goals, 4 assists) and senior Jenn Godin (6 assists) have six points apiece.

IN GOAL: Freshman Lovisa Selander is 3-7-2 with a 2.29 goals against average and a .928 save percentage, while senior Sara Till is 1-1 with a 3.26 goals against average and an .882 save percentage.

SPECIAL TEAMS: The Engineers come into the weekend at 9.5% (6 for 63) on the power play and 80.0% (32 for 40) on the penalty kill.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Four of senior Jenn Godin's team-leading six assists have come on the power play ... Classmate Mari Mankey has a team-high two game-winning goals, including the deciding tally against then-No. 4 Clarkson on November 7 ... Senior Alexa Gruschow has a shooting percentage of 18.2%, which is good for 10th in ECAC Hockey ... Freshman Josefine Hansen (32) and sophomore Amanda Kimmerle (30) rank second and fourth, respectively, in blocked shots.

FOR YALE: Sophomore Eden Murray (4 goal, 6 assists) leads the Bulldogs with 10 points ... Classmate Mallory Souliotis (2 goals, 6 assists) is second with eight points, while junior Phoebe Staenz (4 goals, 3 assists) and freshman Jordan Chancellor (1 goal, 6 assists) have seven apiece.

BULLDOGS IN THE CAGE: Junior Hanna Mandl (2-7-1) has started all 10 games for Yale ... She carries a 3.73 goals against average and an .871 save percentage.

2014-15 VS. YALE: The Bulldogs swept the season series last year, posting wins of 3-2 and 5-0 over the Engineers ... RPI received goals from Laura Horwood and Alexa Gruschow in the one-goal defeat in Troy, before Jaimie Leonoff recorded a 31-save shutout in New Haven, Conn.
