INDIANAPOLIS – Three-time All-American
Shanny Lin competed in her fourth straight 200 butterfly final for Rensselaer Friday night at the 2018 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving National Championships at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.
Lin, the first Engineer to qualify for a final all week, qualified for the finals with a season-best, fifth place 2:02.91 in the preliminaries. The senior went on to swim to a national honorable mention with a 12th place finish of 2:03.95. Lin just missed garnering her fourth All-American honor by a mere .15 seconds.
Also competing individually today for RPI was junior
Amanda Wang in the 100 backstroke. The two-time school record-holder in the event swam to a 31st place finish with a time of 57.59.
Rounding out the day for Rensselaer was the 800 freestyle relay team of
Jessica Sauve,
Kaitlin Joyce,
Michaela Yamashita and
Danielle Sauve with a 22nd place finish of 7:43.71.
The Engineers will compete on their final day of competition tomorrow in the 400 freestyle relay. Preliminaries begin at 10am followed by finals at 6pm.
