TROY, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly award winners from women's hockey and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete
Lovisa Selander has been named MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week, after leading the Engineers to an unbeaten road weekend.
A senior captain from Sollentuna, Sweden, Selander posted a 1-0-1 record last week, with a 0.48 goals against average and a .989 save percentage, stopping 89 of the 90 shots she faced. She made 48 saves in a 1-1 tie at Yale on Friday, before turning away all 41 attempts on goal in a 1-0 victory at Brown on Saturday. The shutout was her third of the season.
Through 22 games this season, Selander is 8-9-5 with a 1.86 goals against average and a .948 save percentage. Playing 1293:03 minutes, she has made 727 total saves. The former SDE Riksserien standout is 5-5-1 in 11 ECAC Hockey contests, registering a 2.24 goals against average and a .938 save percentage in conference play.
Selander leads the nation in save percentage and is 17th in goals against average. She is second in total saves and 14th in shutouts.
The program's all-time leader in games (119), starts (117) and ties (19), Selander ranks second in NCAA women's hockey history in saves with 3,662. She is currently 147 stops behind Brianne McLaughlin, a 2009 graduate of Robert Morris, for the all-time record. Selander is also 19th in career save percentage (.932).
RPI returns to the ice tomorrow night for the Second Annual Mayor's Cup against Union College at the times Union Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 4pm.
