Amanda Rampado named MVP for 2021-22 season

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer women's ice hockey team has announced its team awards for the 2021-22 season and six student-athletes have been recognized, including junior goaltender Amanda Rampado, who was named Most Valuable Player.

Other award winners included senior Mikayla Capelle, who won the Bill Cahill Memorial Coach's Award; senior Lilli Friis-Hansen, who was the Bob Conway Scholar Athlete; forward Audrey McCutcheon, who was named the team's Freshman of the Year; sophomore forward Meg Hildner received the Most Improved Player Award.

Junior defenseman Hannah Price was this year's Will Stanton Community Service Award recipient, which is presented to the outstanding citizen of the team, who demonstrates leadership, sportsmanship, hard work and a genuine love of the game or a team member who excels themselves in their volunteer efforts. She was a finalist for the prestigious Hockey Humanitarian Award.

Rampado, the team's MVP, led the Engineers between the pipes, going 8-22-0, with a 2.38 goals against average and a .930 save percentage, while starting 30 of the team's 32 games. Posting three shutouts, she was third nationally with 945 total saves, averaging 31.5 per contest and was a two-time ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week.

The Bill Cahill Memorial Coach's Award, which signifies the player who, through character, ability, and dedication provides the most inspiration and generates the most team spirit in the locker room and on the ice, went to Capelle. The team captain in 2021-22, she played in all 32 games, collecting two goals and three assists for five points.

McCutcheon, a freshman winger, played in 30 games for the Engineers this season, registering seven goals and four assists for 11 points, which was good for third on the team. She netted a hat trick against Union and was a two-time ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week.

A forward, Hildner proved impactful at any position, bouncing between wing and center. Her strong work ethic, commitment to extra ice and consistently high effort in practice lead to massive improvement in her game. She finished the season with one assist in 20 contests.

Friis-Hansen took home the Bob Conway Scholar Athlete Award for the third consecutive year finished her undergraduate career with a 3.97 GPA in the Lally School of Management. In her first semester of graduate school she posted a perfect 4.0 while participating in the Winter Olympics for her home nation of Denmark. She was also RPI's nominee for the Mandi Schwartz Student-Athlete of the Year Award.
