Men's T&F Begins Indoor Campaign

UTICA, N.Y. — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's indoor track & field team opened its 2025–26 campaign with a dynamic and wide-reaching performance at the Utica Holiday Classic, combining sprint dominance, relay success, and impressive field results to highlight the team's early-season form.

Ronen Stewart led the charge in the 200-meter dash, clocking a winning time of 22.08 seconds to lead a loaded RPI pack. He was followed closely by Alex Flynn in third (22.35), Donovan Myrick in fourth (22.38), and Francis Grasso in seventh (23.04). Grasso also placed sixth in the 60-meter dash with a mark of 7.36 seconds. Flynn returned to the track later in the meet to claim first in the 400-meter dash in 50.07 seconds, while Caden Caron took sixth in 50.96 and Walter Withrow placed ninth in 51.99.

In the relays, the Engineers stormed to a victory in the 4x200-meter relay as Flynn, Jack Catelotti, Myrick, and Stewart combined for a time of 1:30.54. The 4x400-meter relay team of Withrow, John Bellini, Evan Boyd, and Richard Biase capped the track events with a third-place showing at 3:36.23.

The field events saw continued success for RPI, especially in the pole vault where Shawn Keenan cleared 4.45 meters to earn first place, followed by Moss Dengler in second at 4.30 meters and Dillen Owusu in fifth with 4.00 meters. In the high jump, Calvin Chang placed fifth with a 1.88-meter clearance. Oliver Herrick delivered in both horizontal jumps, placing sixth in the long jump with 6.67 meters and fifth in the triple jump at 13.53 meters.

On the runway and in the circle, Chris Kay notched a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (8.89). In the throwing events, Tristan Mangin threw 12.79 meters for ninth place in the shot put, while Paul Sussman followed closely in 10th at 12.68 meters.
